Project Mercator

Over the past few months, we have been assisting the Tourism department of the Flemish government in rolling out Project Mercator. 
Following his official unveiling at the opening of the refurbished Mercator site in Rupelmonde, the AI metahuman based on the Flemish cartographer Gerardus Mercator has finally been presented to the general public. Tourism Flanders did so from his own custom booth at the Nerdland Festival, where he spent four days chatting with visitors. 

During the four day festival, we organized the grand public unveiling of the Mercator AI Metahuman among the biggest tech geeks and science fans. Both young and old could engage in a conversation in their own way with Gerardus Mercator and challenge him with the most complex questions they could think of. After a successful weekend with no less than 1,440 completely unique conversations, good for 37 hours of chatting, even the youngest generation is now a little more aware of who Mercator actually was. 

Day One MPM was responsible for all communications, both with the press, influencers and with the partners of the project. We assisted in the unveiling of the new Mercator site in Rupelmonde, designing the custom booth and generating as much media coverage as possible.
