WIL
Antwerp, 1942. Wil and Lode are two young auxiliary agents in an occupied Antwerp. They are forced to cooperate in the manhunt for Jews in their city. But at the same time, they also support the resistance. And amid all the chaos and violence, love blossoms: Wil falls like a log for the charms of Lode's sister Yvette. A contradictory cocktail of emotions brings him to the brink. For how do you simultaneously save yourself, your loved ones and the Jews from the clutches of the occupier?
The story written by renowned writer Jeroen Olyslaegers was brilliantly brought to the big screen by director Tim Mielants who keeps you on the edge of your seat balancing perfectly between thrill and emotion. A selection of Belgium’s finest actors got a role in this necessary film, with cast-iron lead roles by Stef Aerts, Matteo Simoni and Annelore Crollet.
In essence, WIL holds only one big question: what would you have done?
In the weeks running up to its release, WIL was everywhere – both in Flanders, Brussels and Wallonia. We’ve secured presence in magazines, newspapers, radio stations, tv stations and even arranged live interviews in prime time on 2 of Belgium’s biggest national news broadcasts during the premiere of the film, making sure no one could escape its release.
